HYDERABAD: YSRTP chief YS Sharmila was arrested and taken to the Parliament police station after attempting to march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament in Delhi on Tuesday.
Sharmila and the party leaders held a dharna for some time. Before being taken into custody, she demanded that presidential rule be imposed in Telangana to ensure a free and fair investigation into alleged corruption by the BRS government in the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project.

She stated that she had traveled all the way to Delhi to bring the matter to the attention of Parliament and the people as the funding for the project was provided as debt by Central agencies and money from Indian citizens was involved.

She claimed that KCR tripled the project's cost from the original estimate of Rs 46,000 crore when it was conceived by her father, late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, when he was chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh.
She contended that the opposition parties, including the Congress and the BJP, have been silent on this project, and that her fight is the state's sole fight against corruption.
